The Home Screen is the central hub of Simple UI, providing a quick overview of your reading progress, recent books, and shortcuts. You can fully customize its layout and behavior to suit your needs.

To access these settings, open Simple UI’s Settings (tap the Settings button) and go to Home Screen.

1. Behaviour

Configure how the Home Screen interacts with KOReader under Home Screen → Behaviour:

• Start with Home Screen: When enabled, KOReader will boot directly into your Home Screen instead of the standard File Manager.
• Return to Home Screen on Wakeup: When enabled, waking the device from sleep always returns you to the Home Screen, even if a book was open when it went to sleep.
• Return to Book Folder: When enabled, exiting a book will return you to the folder where the book is stored. If disabled (default), you will always return to the Library root.
• Closing Book Notice: Controls when the brief “Closing book…” message appears. You can set it to Always, Gesture Only (shows only if you close the book via a swipe gesture), or Never.
• Book Cover Transition: Briefly shows the book’s cover full-screen when opening or closing a book, masking the layout/repaint flash that would otherwise be visible. Broken down into four independent toggles:
• Show on Open / Show on Close — enable the transition for each direction separately.
• High-Quality Cover — reads the cover straight from the book file instead of the cached library thumbnail (also covers books never opened before), at the cost of a brief extra pause while opening.
• Preserve Cover Proportions — keeps the cover’s native aspect ratio instead of stretching it to fill the screen.
• Statistics Loading Notice: Shows a brief “Loading statistics…” message when opening a statistics window, to prevent accidental double-taps while the screen refreshes.
• Warn When Modules Overflow: Displays a warning if the modules you’ve enabled take up more vertical space than your device’s screen can fit.
• Settings on Long Tap: Allows you to open any module’s specific settings simply by long-pressing it directly on the Home Screen. Disable this to turn long-press into a no-op instead.
• Preserve Deleted Books in Statistics: When a finished book is deleted from your device, it stays counted in the Books Read statistics on the Home Screen (books changed back to Reading or Abandoned are still removed automatically).
• PocketBook Home Button Opens Home Screen (PocketBook devices only): Makes the device’s physical Home button open the Simple UI Home Screen instead of KOReader’s native Home behaviour.

2. Modules & Layout

You can enable, disable, and arrange various widgets (modules) to build your perfect dashboard, from Home Screen → Edit Home Screen Layout.

• Pages: You can spread your modules across multiple pages — there is no fixed page limit. Swipe left or right on the Home Screen to turn pages, and use Add Page / delete a page from the layout editor.
