Out of the box, vanilla KOReader operates essentially as a file browser, displaying the folders and raw directory structure on your device.

To get the most out of the Simple UI experience, we highly recommend setting up your library properly before installing the plugin. Here are two quick steps to prepare your environment:

1. Create and Set a "Home Folder"

We advise creating a single, dedicated folder on your device where you will keep all your books and documents (for example, simply named Books or Library).

Once you have created it and added your books, you can set it as your home folder in one of two ways:

• From outside the folder: Long-press on the folder name in the file list and select Set as home folder.
• From inside the folder: Tap the button in the top right corner of the screen and select Set as home folder.

This ensures that KOReader will always open directly into your main library rather than the root directory of your device.

2. Enable "Mosaic with Covers" View

To transform the standard file list into a proper bookshelf experience, you should change the default display mode:

• Tap the top edge of the screen to open the top menu.
• Go to the File browser menu (the folder/search icon tab).
• Tap on Display mode and select Mosaic with covers.

Once your home folder is set and your covers are visible, you are perfectly set up to install and enjoy Simple UI!
